Our Story

Bloom in Color began as a love letter to female-identifying people of color—a space where our stories, struggles, softness, and strength could exist without apology.
rooted in the belief that perfection is not required, we exist to remind our community that simply being is more than enough. what started as a newsletter has grown into a movement—a digital and physical garden where we come together to learn, thrive, and grow.
here, we celebrate growth in all its forms—messy, magical, and honest. this is a space built by us, for us—where we bloom at our own pace, in every shade of who we are.

Our Values
at Bloom in Color, our values are the roots that ground us and the petals that guide our growth. each principle reflects the unique journey of blossoming as a female-identifying person of color—soft yet powerful, still yet ever-evolving. just as flowers need soil, sun, and nurturing to bloom, so do we need connection, light, reflection, and care. these values aren’t just ideals; they are living truths that show up in how we build, heal, and uplift together.

connect
from still waters and deep journeys, we blossom with grace and truth.

radiate
we rise boldly, turning toward the light, unapologetically radiant.

reflect
rooted in community, we bloom together in sisterhood and shared strength.

nurture
with tender care, we hold space to grow, heal, and uplift one another.

The Bloomkeepers
we’re a collective of heart-led creatives, organizers, and dreamers committed to cultivating space for women and femmes of color to feel seen, supported, and celebrated. together, we plant seeds of possibility and tend to every bloom with care and intention.

JAMIE-LEE Collman
Fundraiser Coordinator
As a curious mind, Jamie-Lee comes from a background that ventures on the road less traveled and has shaped her into the well-rounded individual she is today.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion incites her to seek out opportunities that grant her an opportunity to be a voice.
This led her to join Bloom In Color due to its founder’s passion for establishing a corner of the internet that belongs to the empowerment of women of color’s voices.

Kyah Black
Social Media Developer
As a member of the Bloom in Color team, Kyah assists with our social media development. Being an HBCU grad (LU Lincoln Pride!), she knows the importance of amplifying the voices of women of color and the importance of creating a safe space for us to share those voices.

Alual Atak
Content Ideator
Hailing from an African immigrant background, Alual is deeply immersed in the diverse cultures that shape my worldview. Whether through the cadence of poetry, the visual storytelling of film and photography, or the vibrant palette of fashion.
It is Alual's belief that God's handiwork is evident in these myriad forms of artistic expression that surround us. This belief fuels her passion for media, where Alual seeks to address the industry’s lack of inclusion and diversity, striving to amplify marginalized voices often silenced. Joining this newsletter allows her to align my passion with purpose. Working towards a narrative landscape where all women of color voices are not only heard, but cherished as a testament of God’s boundless creativity.
