Fall is upon us! We all know what that means—the fashion girls will be out for Fashion Weeks in the various fashion capitals. As the temperatures drop, the style heats up, with designers showcasing their latest collections in New York, London, Milan, and Paris. It’s a time when street style meets haute couture, and fashion enthusiasts from all over the world gather to witness the trends that will define the upcoming seasons. This year, we’re shining a spotlight on a few Black and Brown women designers who are breaking boundaries and making their mark in the industry, proving that fashion is not only about what we wear but also about representation and inclusivity. Get ready for bold looks, iconic moments, and endless inspiration!


Hanifa - Anifa Mvuemba

Hanifa, founded by visionary designer Anifa Mvuemba, has become a trailblazer in the fashion world, known for its bold, innovative designs and commitment to inclusivity. The Congolese-American designer made headlines with her groundbreaking 3D digital fashion show in 2020, where she showcased her collection without physical models, making history in the process. Hanifa’s collections are celebrated for their vibrant colors, flattering silhouettes, and a deep connection to African heritage. Mvuemba’s mission goes beyond just creating beautiful clothes—she’s dedicated to empowering women of all sizes and backgrounds, ensuring they feel confident and seen in her designs. Diotima - Rachel Foster 

Diotima, created by Jamaican-born designer Rachel Scott, is a brand that beautifully merges traditional Caribbean craftsmanship with modern design. Named after a Greek philosopher, the label reflects a deep appreciation for cultural heritage and intellectual creativity. Scott draws inspiration from her roots, incorporating intricate handwoven techniques such as crochet, a skill honed by artisans in Jamaica, into her collections. Maria Elena Villamil

Known for her architectural designs and structured silhouettes, Villamil blends artistry with innovation, creating pieces that are both bold and elegant. Her collections often play with asymmetry, texture, and volume, making each garment a true work of art. Inspired by her deep connection to nature and Colombian culture, Villamil incorporates elements of her heritage while pushing the boundaries of contemporary fashion. Paola Sighinolfi Jewelry - Paola Sighinolfi

Paola Sighinolfi is a Brazilian designer and jewelry artist known for her vibrant, sculptural creations that blend art and fashion. Her designs are heavily inspired by Brazil’s rich culture and natural beauty, often featuring bold shapes and colorful gemstones that reflect the country’s dynamic landscapes. Sighinolfi’s work bridges the gap between fashion and fine art, with each piece functioning as a statement of personal expression. She takes a sustainable approach to design, using locally sourced materials and working with artisans to preserve traditional craftsmanship.
