Happy August everyone!

As summer wraps up and the seasons shift, it’s the perfect time to hit the reset button. The air changes, routines begin to settle, and there’s a subtle shift in energy. You can almost taste the pumpkin spice lattes and the cozy flavors that come with the fall.

Once this time of the year approaches, everything seems to take on a more serious tone – maybe because if you’re a student, the excitement of preparing for a new school year is here and it feels like it’s time to lock in again. What also makes this season interesting, is that we’re all preparing for Autumn while we are still closing out the summer. In turn, we kind of neglect the final weeks of the season that we’re still in.

It’s been a few years since I went to Staples in late August to buy pens, pencils and notebooks for each one of my classes, but I think the feeling of needing to focus and lock back in during this time never really goes away.

I’ve been thinking a lot about my goals lately too. What’s next for me? What would I like to accomplish throughout the remainder of the year? Within the next five years?

If you’re feeling the same way, one piece of advice is try not to do everything all at once! Take your time, plan out what you want to change. Write down your goals, both short and long term. I feel like once I need a reset, I become impulsive. Whatever goals I have, I try to start everything all at once because I don’t wanna sit on things!

Well, if you’re like me, this would be a good time to slow down and really sit with your thoughts about what goals you’d like to achieve next.

Think about what you want in this new season. Think about what you want for yourself.

You remember those New Year’s resolutions? Well, it’s time to revisit them. How have those changed since January?

Most importantly, learn to celebrate what you’ve accomplished so far. What was your highlight of this summer? What memories did you create? How many new people have you met and/or reconnected with? Don’t forget to honor every single moment of success, whether it’s big or appears small; they are all equally important and worth commemorating!

As the summer wraps up and you begin planning for the fall, just remember that you are doing your best. Even if it may not feel like you are, you are present nonetheless and sometimes that is also more than enough.

Have a great rest of your summer! I look forward to chatting with you all in September!

Sincerely,

Kara Little
